The abstract should be sent to the organisers no later than 7th
of May 2012.
Conference topic is closely related to the issue of managing growth of metropolitan areas.
This has to be considered in relation to topics of spatial management,
socio-economic development and implementation of metropolitan areas development
strategies, which includes the issues of social, economic, competitiveness and
other nature. Also, the political and institutional aspects of this topic will
be taken into consideration, which will include discussion of possible models
of managing the metropolitan areas and chances for their implementation. The
basis of this discussion will be formed by presentation of selected topics by
both Polish and foreign experts. International cases should become a reference
for discussion on the development of metropolitan area management in Poland.
The conference presentations will
include four major groups of papers,
strictly connected with the topics of the sessions. Those will be:
· theoretical aspects of metropolitan area development management in the
context of contemporary trends and needs
· practice of managing the metropolitan development processes – with a
choice of Polish and foreign examples
· development projects, enterprises and their role in the process of
controlling the development of contemporary metropolis
· main difficulties and challenges in the construction of metropolitan
area management system
The main aim of the conference is
to gather the material for further theoretical work on the management model for
metropolitan areas in Poland. That will also serve as a basis for formulating
recommendations for governmental and self-governmental (including local and
regional) authorities in terms of seeking local solutions to the problem.
Mostly there will be recommendations to form the model for the Tri-City
Metropolitan Area.
